Benchmark indices started off last day of the week on a flat note despite better-than-expected fourth quarter GDP data.

The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 25.01 points to 35,297.37 and the 50-share NSE Nifty declined 16.90 points to 10,719.30.

Nifty Bank index fell 150 points and Nifty Midcap index declined 40 points.

ICICI Bank rallied nearly 4 percent after Chanda Kochhar has already proceeded on leave. The bank is calling it a 'planned annual leave'.

Sun Pharma, Bajaj Auto, BPCL, HPCL, Maruti Suzuki, Ashok Leyland, Indiabulls Housing, HUL and Tata Motors are early gainers.

ONGC fell 4 percent. Axis Bank decliend 1.6 percent and ITC lost 0.3 percent.

Escorts rallied 1.7 percent post May Auto sales data.

CG Power, Idea Cellular, Balrampur Chini, Suzlon Energy and PFC gained up to 7 percent.

Reliance Communications and Vakrangee fell up to 5 percent.

Jubilant Foodworks, Punj Lloyd, Apollo Hospitals, Deepak Fertilisers, Satin Creditcare, KNR Construction, Sadbhav Engineering and Saksoft surged up to 15 percent.

Manpasand Beverages, Vakrangee and V-Guard Industries fell up to 10 percent.

Benchmark indices extended yesterday's losses on Wednesday, tracking weakness in global stocks on political turmoil in Italy.

The 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 151.57 points to 34,797.67 and the 50-share NSE Nifty slid 63.30 points to 10,570.

Vedanta, Tata Motors, SBI, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Axis Bank and Grasim Industries fell up to 2.5 percent.

M&M, BPCL and Infosys are gainers in opening.

Nifty Midcap lost 156 points. Nifty Bank declined 237 points.

Dilip Buildcon, Glenmark Pharma, BEL, Eveready Industries, Vakrangee, Jain Irrigation, Canara Bank, Allahabad Bank and LIC Housing Finance slipped up to 6 percent.

Benchmark indices started off Friday's trade mildly lower despite most Asian stocks traded in the green.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 59.51 points at 35,089.61 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 17.90 points to 10,664.80.

Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Auto, Tech Mahindra, Yes Bank, Eicher Motors, ONGC, Coal India, Lupin, Vedanta and Power Grid were early gainers.

IOC, HPCL, BPCL, Wipro, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Cipla, UltraTech Cement, ICICI Bank and Asian Paints were under pressure.

Benchmark indices opened sharply lower, following weak trend in global stocks and uncertainty over formation of government in Karnataka.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 166.25 points at 35,377.69 and the 50-share NSE Nifty declined 54.20 points to 10,747.70.

Nifty Bank fell 184 points as PNB plunged 10 percent.

Lupin, Power Grid, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, TCS and Tech Mahindra were early gainers.

Titan Company, Bajaj Finserv, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Cipla, HPCL and SBI were under pressure.

Benchmark indices were flat in opening trade amid rising bond yields and vote counting in Karnataka.

Benchmark indices started off the week on quiet note after Karnataka exit polls that indicated hung assembly. Investors prefer to wait for Karnataka elections results due on Tuesday.

Equity benchmarks have begun the day on the right foot, with the Sensex gaining over 100 points, while the Nifty clocked 10,750 during the morning trade. 

The Sensex is up 132.32 points at 35378.59, while the Nifty is up 43.30 points at 10759.80. The market breadth is positive as 518 shares advanced, against a decline of 347 shares declined, while 63 shares have remained unchanged.

Midcaps have begun the day on a positive note, gaining over 0.3 percent on the index. Meanwhile, strength is visible in metals and IT stocks as well. Asian Paints, Tata Steel, and Titan are the top gainers, while Bharti Airtel and Sun Pharma have lost the most. 

The Nifty50 is expected to open higher on Friday following positive trend seen in other Asian markets. The Nifty50 closed 25 points lower at 10,716 on Thursday.

Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a positive opening for the broader index in India, a rise of 49 points or 0.46 percent. Nifty futures were trading around 10,780-level on the Singaporean Exchange.

D-Street has begun the trading session on a good note. The Sensex is up over 100 points, while the Nifty is firmly above 10,750-mark. 

The Sensex is up 117.29 points at 35436.64, while the Nifty is up 33.30 points at 10775.00. The market breadth is positive as 497 shares advanced, against a decline of 362 shares, while 55 shares are unchanged.

ONGC, Axis Bank, Eicher Motors and Tech Mahindra are the top gainers, with a surge of up to 2 percent among them. On the losing side are IndusInd Bank, Dr Reddy’s Labs and Indian Oil. 

In the broader markets, midcaps are continuing to trade lower but strong gain is seen in Nifty IT, up around half a percent.

Equities have begun the day on a lower note, with the Sensex shedding around 50 points, while the Nifty held 10,700 in the opening tick. The market breadth was in favour of advances. 

The Sensex is down 48.69 points or 0.14% at 35167.63, and the Nifty down 16.30 points or 0.15% at 10701.50. About 302 shares have advanced, 229 shares declined, and 59 shares are unchanged.

Selling is visible across all sectors, barring Nifty IT, which is trading over half a percent higher. Big cuts are visible in financial names, with Nifty Bank falling 0.40 percent. Midcaps too are trading lower. 

OMC stocks have taken a hit on the back of higher crude oil prices.

The Nifty is expected to open flat on Monday following muted trend seen in other Asian markets. The Nifty closed 61 points lower at 10,618 on Friday.

Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a flat to positive opening for the broader index in India, a rise of 5.5 points or 0.05 percent. Nifty futures were trading around 10,672-level on the Singaporean Exchange.

The three major US stock indexes rose more than 1 percent on Friday after weaker-than-expected US wage growth helped to calm investor fears about rising interest rates and inflation, though the S&P 500 and Dow Industrials still posted losses for the week, said a Reuters report.

SEBI Allows Exchanges to Set Trading Hours in Derivatives Between 9 am and 11:55 pm | Today Share Market News 05 May 2018.

In a landmark decision, SEBI on Friday announced that stock exchanges will now be able to trade in Equity Derivatives Segment between 9 am and 11:55 pm.

This step was taken with a view to enable integration of trading of various segments of securities market at the level of exchanges

Exchanges willing to extend trade timings shall seek prior approval from SEBI and submit framework for risk management, settlement process with SEBI.

The provisions of this circular shall be applicable from October 01 this year.

SEBI took this decision in exercise of powers conferred under Section 11 (1) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992.
