Equity benchmarks opened marginally lower on the day of expiry of September derivative contracts.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 36.73 points at 31,123.08 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 12.25 points to 9,723.50.

ONGC, Aurobindo Pharma, Bharti Infratel and Dr Reddy's Labs were early losers while Tech Mahindra, Wipro, TCS, HCL Technologies and Axis Bank were early gainers.

Nifty Midcap was down 0.14 percent.

In broader space, Ipca Labs, DHFL, Reliance Home Finance, ICICI Lombard General and Titan Company were under pressure.

Goa Carbon, Divis Labs, Indo Count, Edelweiss Financial and Cyient gained 1-3 percent.

Meanwhile, the Indian rupee extended losses today, opening lower by 11 paise at 65.82 against the US dollar. In previous session, it closed at 65.71 a dollar.Asian indexes were narrowly mixed today, after US equities advanced and the greenback rose following the unveiling of a long-awaited tax reform plan stateside.

Equity benchmarks opened mildly higher amid volatility on Wednesday, ahead of expiry of September derivative contracts tomorrow.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 37.18 points at 31,636.94 and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 5 points to 9,876.50.

About four shares advanced for every share falling on the BSE.

Sun Pharma lost 2 percent post AGM. Divis Labs fell 7 percent on USFDA observations for unit 2. Dr Reddy's Labs was also under pressure.

The Nifty Midcap was up 0.4 percent on positive breadth.Edelweiss Financial, Shriram Transport, Indiabulls Ventures, RCF, FACT, Den Networks, Hathway Cable, Bajaj Hindusthan and Balrampur Chini gained 1-10 percent while DHFL and REC were under pressure.

Equity benchmarks opened flat on Tuesday after witnessing sharp fall in previous two sessions, and ahead of expiry of September derivative contracts.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 8.55 points at 31618.08 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 6.90 points at 9,879.50.

Lupin, ONGC, Power Grid and Sun Pharma were early gainers.

Nifty Midcap was up 0.1 percent. Jet Airways, InterGlobe Aviation, SpiceJet, JK Paper and Alkem Labs were down up to 4 percent while REC, Adani Transmission, Avenue Supermarts, Shoppers Stop and DHFL gained 1-6 percent.

The Indian rupee hit a six-month low, opening lower by 14 paise at 65.24 per dollar today versus 65.10 on Monday.
Asian markets were pressured, following declines on Wall Street overnight, as the war of words between North Korea and the US escalated.

STOCK MARKET NEWS

Equity benchmarks fell sharply in opening on Friday, tracking weakness in Asia post North Korea threatened it could consider testing a nuclear weapon in the Pacific.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 163.54 points at 32,206.50 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 58.25 points to 10,063.65.

All sectoral indices were in red as Nifty Auto, FMCG, Metal and PSU Bank and Private Bank lost 0.4-1 percent.

The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices dropped 0.7 percent each as about two shares declined for every share rising on the BSE.

In broader space, Exide Industries, Graphite India, JP Associates, PTC India and Matrimony.com were down up to 4 percent while Ipca Labs rallied 2.5 percent.

The Indian rupee slipped further as it traded at lowest level since April 5, down 28 paise at 65.11 against the US dollar after flat opening.

It has opened at 64.80 per dollar versus previous close of 64.81.
Yesterday rupee plummeted by 54 paise to end at 64.81 a dollar after the Federal Reserve left the door open for a rate hike in December.

Equity benchmarks opened mildly higher on Wednesday, led by support from index heavyweight Reliance Industries.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 63.74 points at 32,466.11 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 11.90 points at 10,159.45.

Telecom stocks - Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Reliance Communications fell 3-6 percent after telecom regulator TRAI slashed mobile call connection charge to 6 paise per minute from 14 paise currently, effective October 1.

Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, BPCL, Cipla, Coal India, Ambuja Cements, NTPC and Wipro were also under pressure in early trade.

Reliance Industries rallied 4 percent, followed by L&T, ONGC, HDFC Bank, ITC, Tata Power and Yes Bank.

STOCK MARKET REPORT UPDATE


The NSE Nifty turned flat after opening at fresh record high on Tuesday as investors looked for cues from two-day monetary policy meeting of Federal Reserve that will begin tonight.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 8.83 points at 32,432.59 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 6.20 points at 10,159.30.

Gas stocks like GAIL, Gujarat Gas and Indraprastha Gas gained 2-4 percent after Morgan Stanley said gas demand is on secular growth path supported by benign gas prices and favourable government policies.


Biocon, Bharat Gears, Divis Labs, Dixon Technologies, Autolite, TVS Electronics, Graphite India, HEG and ADF Foods rallied up to 10 percent.
InterGlobe Aviation, Bharat Road Network and Mirc Electronics fell up to 6 percent.

Sun Pharma rallied nearly 4 percent, followed by Dr Reddy's Labs, Lupin, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors, GAIL and Aurobindo Pharm.

HPCL, BPCL and IOC rallied 3 percent each as the government ruled out oil price cut.

Thermax, Jubilant Foodworks, Tata Chemicals, Cyient and Deepak Fertilisers gained up to 4 percent.

The Indian rupee opened lower by 17 paise at 64.17 per dollar today against previous close of 64."In the absence of any major triggers, the rupee is expected to stay in a tight range with trading range for the day at 64-64.30," Mohan Shenoi of Kotak Mahindra Bank said.

SHARE MARKET UPDATE


After two consecutive sessions of positive trade, benchmark indices opened on a flat note.

Adani Transmission, Tata Power and Tata Motors were the top gainers on both indices, while Videocon, IPCA Labs, L&T and Aurobindo Pharma lost the most.

The Indian rupee opened higher by 6 paise at 63.98 per dollar on Wednesday against the level of 64.04 on Tuesday.

Pramit Brahmbhatt of Veracity said, "Easing of North Korea problem helped dollar find support at 63.80 mark. As far as it trades above 63.80, bias will remain positive towards dollar." "Trading range for the spot USD-INR pair will be 63.80-64.20," he added.

The dollar extended its sharp rally against the yen, although it was capped against the euro with a potentially supportive spike in US yields neutralized by a similar move by their German counterparts.

Meanwhile, the pound hovered within distance of a one-year high after a robust UK inflation report added pressure on the Bank Of England to do more to support the currency.

Among global markets, Asian shares inched up to a 10-year high on Wednesday, cheered by record highs on Wall Street, while the dollar's rise against the yen helped boost Japanese shares.

Equity benchmarks opened last day of the week on a positive note amid consolidation, with the Nifty reclaiming 9,950 level.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 89.87 points at 31,752.61 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 23.75 points at 9,953.65.

Nifty Midcap hit record high. About 784 shares advanced against 247 declining shares on the BSE.

Future Market Networks, Future Enterprises and Future Consumer surged up to 10 percent.
Apex Frozen Foods gained another 3.5 percent, rising since listing on Monday.

Equity benchmarks rebounded in opening trade Thursday after sell-off in previous session, tracking positive global cues.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 110.97 points at 31,772.94 and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 37.90 points to 9,954.10.

The broader markets outperformed benchmarks as the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.8 percent each. About five shares advanced for every share falling on the BSE.

Reliance Industries gained nearly 1 percent to hit 52-week high of Rs 832.70 after the stock adjusted for bonus issue in the proportion of one bonus share for every one share held.

Indiabulls Housing Finance surged 2.5 percent again as CLSA raised target price

Eicher Motors, Aurobindo Pharma, Asian Paints, Adani Ports and Dr Reddy's Labs gained 1 percent each.

Bharat Forge gained 3.4 percent as total class 8 truck orders in the North America rose 50 percent YoY.
Fortis Healthcare, Motherson Sumi, Shriram Transport, NBCC, Muthoot Finance, India Cements, GMR Infrastructure, CESC, HPCL, IOC and Petronet LNG gained up to 5 percent.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 201.91 points at 31,607.64 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 56.75 points to 9,895.45.

Nifty Midcap lost 0.7 percent as about three shares declined for every share rising.
Bharat Financial Inclusion, Divis Labs, Adani Enterprises, JP Associates, Adani Power, HCC, Indiabulls Real, DLF, Idea Cellular, Escorts, Ujjivan Financial, M&M Financial, InterGlobe Aviation were down up to 3 percent. However, Just Dial rallied 5 percent as HDFC MF picked up stake in company.

COMMODITY TIPS

Equity benchmarks rebounded with moderate gains amid volatility on Tuesday as investors remained cautious due to geopolitical tensions surrounding around North Korea.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 73.36 points at 31,775.61 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 20.65 points at 9,933.50.

Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors and HDFC Bank were early gainers while TCS, HCL Technologies, Bharti Airtel, ITC and HDFC were under pressure.

Nifty Midcap gained half a percent as about five shares advanced for every share falling on the NSE.

Tourism Finance Corporation of India gained 6.5 percent. Thomas Cook and IFCI gained more than 3 percent.

Sun TV added another 3 percent after CLSA raised target price to Rs 965 while Bharat Financial was up 2 percent as Credit Suisse raised target price to Rs 1,055.

Indraprastha Gas, Nandan Denim, Arvind, Sintex Industries, IRB Infrastructure, JM Financial, Manappuram Finance and Suzlon Energy gained up to 3 percent. Castrol India, Kwality, InterGlobe and Repco Home fell up to 14 percent

The Indian rupee depreciated further in opening trade on dollar demand. It started off trade at 64.10 a dollar, down 6 paise compared to previous day's closing of 64.02.
