SENSEX, Nifty Open Flat on First Day of New Year; Midcaps Outperform | Today Stock Market Outlook 01 JAN 2018.

began the New Year on a flat note, but the midcaps were trading higher and outperforming the benchmarks in the opening tick.

At 09:16 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 11.14 points at 34067.97, while the Nifty was down 11.40 points or 0.11% at 10519.30. The market breadth was positive as 576 shares advanced against a decline of 178 shares, while 2,878 shares were unchanged.

Among stocks, State Bank of India (SBI), L&T, Hero MotoCorp and GAIL were the top gainers, while HUL, Wipro and Infosys were the top losers.

In the currency space, Indian rupee opened marginally higher at 63.84 per dollar on Monday versus 63.87 Friday.

Pramit Brahmbhatt of Veracity said, "The rupee will trade on a flat note. We expect the spot USD-INR pair to trade in a range of 63.50-64."

According to Ajay Manglunia of Edelweiss, the volatility in the bond markets is expected to persist over the next few sessions."

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 94.26 points at 33,942.29 and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 26.30 points to 10,504.20.

Tata Steel, Vedanta, Bosch, UPL, Eicher Motors, Hero MotoCorp and SBI were early gainers while HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank were under pressure.

Nifty Midcap was up 0.6 percent.

Reliance Communications surged 28 percent on sealing wireless assets deal with Reliance Jio.

Equity benchmarks rebounded with mild gains amid volatility on Thursday morning, ahead of expiry of December futures and options contracts.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 51.96 points at 33,963.77 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 21 points at 10,511.80.

Hindalco Industries, Vedanta, Aurobindo Pharma, BPCL, Lupin, HUL, Tata Steel, Coal India and Dr Reddy's Labs were early gainers.

The Nifty Midcap was up 0.24 percent.

Star Cement, Monnet Ispat, Reliance Communications, Kolte-Patil Developers and Hindustan Copper rallied 4-12 percent.

The Indian rupee has slipped to its lowest level since December 18, trading at around 64.26 against the US dollar while 10-year bond yield rose to 7.33 percent, the highest level since July 13, 2016.

Equity benchmarks started off trade on a flat note on Wednesday due to lack of global and domestic cues.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 34.98 points at 34,045.59 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 4.60 points to 10,526.90. About 907 shares advanced against 334 declining shares on the BSE.

Vedanta, GAIL, Yes Bank, Cipla, Dr Reddy's Labs, Tata Steel, Hero Motocorp, UPL and Maruti Suzuki were early gainers.

BPCL, UltraTech Cement, Indiabulls Housing, ICICI Bank, Coal India, IOC and HPCL were under pressure.

Reliance Communications surged 20 percent on mega debt restructuring plan.

Sanghi Industries, Prestige Estates, Aban Offshore, Prataap Snacks, ITD Cementation, Glenmark Pharma, Jaiprakash Associates, Jindal Steel and Lanco Infratech rallied 1-8 percent.

Sensex Hits 34000 For First Time, Nifty at Record High | Today Stock Market News Outlook 26 DEC 2017.


STOCK MARKET NEWS

The Indian market began the truncated week on a positive note, with the Nifty trading above 10,500-mark.

At 09:16 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 60.81 points or 0.18% at 34001.11, while the Nifty is up 7.30 points or 0.07% at 10500.30. The market breadth was positive as 596 shares advanced, against a decline of 163 shares, while 81 shares were unchanged.

TCS, BHEL, Tata Power and GAIL were the top gainers, while Tata Motors DVR, ITC, Infosys and Sun Pharma lost the most.

The Indian rupee opened marginally higher at 64.03 per dollar on Tuesday versus 64.05 on Friday.

Bhaskar Panda of HDFC Bank said, "The Catalan vote roiled global markets before Christmas. However, cheer in Indian markets seem to be continuing. Hence, I expect the INR appreciation trend to continue. Range for the day seen between 63.90-64.10."

He further added, "The Indian 10-year benchmark yield has been continuously moving higher. It may continue to consolidate within a range of 7.25-7.30 percent for today."

The dollar index held steady shrugging off upbeat Japanese economic data.

Asian markets were mixed early in the Tuesday session in what's likely to be light, holiday-week trading.

Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index came under slight pressure after closing at a 26-year high in the last session, despite thin holiday trade. The index traded lower by 0.1 percent as most technology and auto names drifted lower. Energy-related companies, however, made gains as oil priced nudged higher.

About 907 shares advanced against 260 declining shares on the BSE.

TCS was up nearly a percent after report indicated that the company renewed USD 2.25 billion deal with Nielsen till 2020 and also after Accenture earnings.

Aurobindo Pharma, L&T, Vedanta, Eicher Motors, HDFC Bank and UPL were early gainers while BPCL, Bajaj Auto, HCL Technologies, Bharti Infratel, Power Grid and ICICI Bank were losers.Reliance Infrastructure, NHPC, PVR, Reliance Naval, Britannia Industries, DB Realty, Aditya Birla Money and Religare Enterprises rallied 2-20 percent.

Nifty Midcap was flat.

Religare Enterprises rallied 5 percent and Edelweiss Financial was up 1.7 percent. Edelweiss Financial will buy Religare's securities business which includes securities & commodities broking & depository participants services.

Gujarat trends predict BJP upset

Benchmarks stated off the week sharply lower on Monday as latest voting counts indicated that BJP is leading in both states (Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh) but with small margin.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 740.11 points or 2.21 percent at 32,722.86 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 208.80 points or 2.02 percent to 10,124.50.

Out of 30 stocks, only 1 stock is trading in green, which is Cipla after getting tentative approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for HIV drug, Darunavir hydrate (75-800 mg).

About five shares declined for every share rising on the BSE.

The Indian rupee was sharply lower by 25 paise to 64.29 against the US dollar in early trade, following weakness in equity markets.

Asian markets were mixed amid optimism that a plan to reduce corporate taxes would be passed in the US.

Equity benchmarks rebounded with mild gains in opening on Thursday after Federal Reserve expectedly hiked interest rate by 25 bps. Investors remained cautious ahead of exit polls after the second phase of Gujarat elections today.


The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 46.73 points at 33,099.77 and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 18 points to 10,211.

Vedanta, ONGC, GAIL, HPCL, Tech Mahindra, Dr Reddy's Labs, Aurobindo Pharma, Infosys, Hero MotoCorp and Ambuja Cements were early gainers while TCS, IndusInd Bank and Maruti Suzuki were losers.

The Nifty Midcap index was up 0.5 percent as about five shares advanced for every share falling on the NSE.

Sensex Opens Lower, Nifty Below 10,250 | Today Stock Market Report Update 13 Dec 2017.


STOCK MARKET NEWS

Benchmark indices began the day on a lower note, with the Sensex falling nearly 100 points in the first minutes of trade before cutting those losses, while the Nifty was down by almost quarter of a percent.

At 09:17 hrs IST, the Sensex was down 91.65 points at 33136.34, while the Nifty fell 23.00 points or 0.22% at 10217.20. The market breadth was narrow as 409 shares advanced against a decline of 305 shares, while 43 shares were unchanged.

Dr Reddy’s Labs continued its uptrend from Tuesday, along with Bharti Airtel, which gained 1 percent. Both were top gainers on Sensex and Nifty, while ITC, SBI, Power Grid and Vedanta were the top losers.

Midcaps were trading weak, but fell lesser as compared to benchmarks, while Nifty PSU Bank index was down around half a percent.

The Indian rupee declined in the early trade on Wednesday. It has opened lower by 13 paise at 64.53 per dollar versus 64.40 Tuesday.

Equity benchmarks began the day on a flattish note with a hint of negative bias. Soon after the opening, indices moved in the red zone, with the Nifty giving up 10,300.

The Sensex was down 67.71 points at 33388.08, while the Nifty was down 26.60 points at 10295.70. The market breadth was narrow as 611 shares advanced against a decline of 577 shares, while 43 shares are unchanged.

Among sectors, banks have taken a hit, while midcaps are in tandem with benchmarks.

Dr Reddy’s Labs, ONGC, and GAIL were the top gainers on both indices, while Asian Paints, Coal India and HPCL lost the most.



On the global front, Asian shares were trying to string together a fourth session of gains on Tuesday as optimism about global growth looked set to outlast an almost certain hike in US borrowing costs this week.

The latest upbeat news came from China where banks doled out a surprisingly generous dose of credit in November, which could bode well for a pick up in retail sales and industrial output due later in the week.

Fortis Healthcare was down 2.5 percent. 63 Moons plunged nearly 17 percent.

Petronet LNG, Bombay Dyeiing, Ansal Properties, Puravankara, Hansan Agro, Claris Life and United Breweries gained 1-3 percent.
Asian markets were mixed today, as the Nikkei 225 recouped some losses, trading 1.3 percent higher after falling around 2 percent on Wednesday.

Equity benchmarks extended losses in opening on Wednesday, with the Nifty falling below 10,100 level, dragged by banking and financials as investors maintained cautious stance ahead of RBI policy decision.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 77.36 points at 32,725.08 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 31.90 points to 10,086.40.

About 692 shares declined against 451 advancing shares on the BSE.

Eicher Motors, Hindalco Industries, Bajaj Finance, Yes Bank, Indiabulls Housing, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, HUL, PNB, Bank of Baroda and Coal India were early losers while Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Cipla, IndusInd Bank and Dr Reddy's Labs were gainers.

Equity benchmarks opened mildly lower on Tuesday following tepid Asian cues. Investors remained cautious ahead of mid-term review of foreign trade policy due later today and RBI policy tomorrow.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 68.74 points at 32,800.98 and the 50-share NSE Nifty declined 19.30 points to 10,108.50.

Wipro, NTPC, IOC, Tech Mahindra, Power Grid, ONGC, L&T and HDFC Bank were early losers while Bosch, Bharti Airtel, HPCL, BPCL, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Motors, M&M and Maruti Suzuki were gainers.

Nifty Midcap was down 0.2 percent.

Future Retail, Ashok Leyland, Reliance Communications and Jaiprakash Associates fell 1-5 percent.

Bharat Forge and Transformers and Rectifiers gained 2-4 percent.

Equity benchmarks started off the week on a positive note, backed by Infosys that gained 2.5 percent after the appointment of new CEO and MD.
 
The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 89.51 points to 32,922.45 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 23.60 points at 10,145.40. About 980 shares advanced against 291 declining shares on the BSE.
 
Infosys, Indiabulls Housing, Tata Motors, Dr Reddy's Labs, SBI, Aurobindo Pharma and ICICI Bank were early gainers while Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma and Hero MotoCorp were early losers.
 
Biocon surged 10 percent as the US FDA approved Mylan and Biocon's Ogivri, the first biosimilar for Trastuzumab, for the Treatment of HER2-Positive breast and gastric cancers.
Syngene International, MT Educare, Zee Learn, Videocon Industries and Ashok Leyland gained up to 8 percent.
